Operations Full-time

Maintenance Technician

Our machines make the parts. You keep the machines making parts.

Union City, CA · $28 – $38/hour · 3+ years

Reports to: Production Manager / Director of Operations

About This Role

You are the backbone of uptime. As our Maintenance Technician, you'll perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC mills, CNC lathes, coolant systems, air compressors, and general shop infrastructure. When a machine goes down, you're the first responder. When everything is running smoothly, it's because of the PM schedule you maintain.

We're a startup with growing capacity — you'll help commission new equipment, set up utilities, and build out our maintenance program from the ground up. This role has real impact: every hour of uptime you protect translates directly to parts shipped and revenue earned. We need someone who takes ownership and acts fast.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on CNC mills, lathes, and support equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Maintain coolant systems, filtration, and chip conveyors
  • Troubleshoot CNC machine alarms and coordinate with OEM support when needed
  • Maintain air compressors, dryers, and shop air distribution systems
  • Perform basic electrical work (motors, relays, sensors, limit switches)
  • Support new equipment installation, leveling, and commissioning
  • Maintain a PM schedule and detailed maintenance logs
  • Manage spare parts inventory and order replacements as needed
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and OSHA requirements
  • Respond quickly to unplanned downtime to minimize production impact

Requirements

  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Experience maintaining CNC machines (mills and/or lathes)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills
  • Basic electrical knowledge (120V/240V/480V, motor controls, sensors)
  • Ability to read machine manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Familiarity with coolant management and filtration systems
  • Own basic hand tools (company provides specialty tools)
  • Strong problem-solving skills under time pressure
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to prioritize effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with modern CNC machines
  • PLC troubleshooting experience (Fanuc, Siemens)
  • Welding and fabrication skills (MIG, TIG)
  • HVAC or facilities maintenance experience
  • Forklift certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive pay: $28 – $38/hour depending on experience
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Overtime opportunities available (time and a half)
  • Tool allowance for personal tool maintenance
  • Professional development and OEM training opportunities
  • Startup culture with performance bonuses and growth opportunities
