About This Role

Inspect precision-machined components using CMM, calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators. Perform first-article inspections (FAI), in-process checks, and final inspections to ensure every part meets customer specifications and AS9100 quality standards.

Document findings, generate inspection reports, and work with machinists to resolve non-conformances. Your attention to detail is the last line of defense before parts ship to our customers. We're a startup — everyone gives 110%, one shared goal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform first-article inspections (FAI) per AS9102 standards
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections on machined components
  • Operate CMM equipment for dimensional verification
  • Use precision measuring instruments: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings with GD&T callouts
  • Generate detailed inspection reports and quality documentation
  • Identify and document non-conformances with clear descriptions
  • Work with machinists to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence
  • Maintain calibration records for all inspection equipment
  • Support internal and external quality audits
  • Track and report on quality metrics (scrap rate, first-pass yield)
  • Verify incoming material certifications and traceability
  • Use optical comparators and surface roughness testers when required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of quality processes

Requirements

  • 2+ years of quality inspection experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments: CMM, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Experience with first-article inspection (FAI) reports per AS9102
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and report generation
  • Reliable, punctual, and quality-focused mindset
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to stand for extended periods and work in a shop environment
  • Strong communication skills for working with machinists and engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • CMM programming experience (Zeiss Calypso, PC-DMIS, Hexagon)
  • AS9100 or ISO 9001 internal auditor certification
  • Experience with optical comparators and surface roughness testers
  • Blueprint reading certification
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing
  • Familiarity with SPC and statistical analysis tools
